Program note
Composed in 2024 while the composer was residing in Strasbourg, this is a piece that explores metamorphosis through the metaphor of fire. From its beginning, the sound emerges with the subtlety of a nascent flame: an intriguing and ethereal atmosphere slowly expands, like embers awakening in the dim light. Gradually, the piece comes to life, the flames intertwine in a hypnotic play of movement and color, tracing sonic lines that ignite and twist with growing intensity.
As it progresses, the energy overflows into a frenetic and rhythmic dance. The different instrumental groups intertwine in an intricate and dizzying sonic fabric, where the pulse fragments and reconfigures in an incessant combustion. Between moments of extreme tension and flashes of ephemeral lyricism, Flammes enlacées immerses the listener in a vibrant soundscape, where the sonic material burns and transforms until reaching its most explosive climax.
This piece takes the listener from its timid birth to its fullest brilliance, like a display of energy that consumes itself in its own intensity.
