Program note 

Ausencia is a piece that invites reflection, evoking distance and memories of someone who is no longer present. Its musical material is inspired by the waves of the sea, the reflections of light on its surface and the ebb and flow that at times suggests calm, and at others, fury and turmoil. At the end of the piece, the music is complemented by a haiku written by the composer, which the pianist is instructed to recite.
