Presentation
In this collaboration with the prestigious Austrian festival Wien Modern, one of the leading festivals on the European music scene, Sur has commissioned three works by composers from Argentina, Mexico, and Uruguay, which engage in dialogue with new compositions by two young Viennese composers. All five works will receive their premieres at this concert, performed by Cuban-Mexican pianist Ana Gabriela Fernández, who is based in Paris. The program also offers a new opportunity to hear one of Conlon Nancarrow’s most demanding piano scores: Two Canons for Ursula.
