Presentation
The first award concert of the Premio Sur de Música Nueva Latinoamericana features the world premiere of the winning work alongside the three selected pieces from the 2026 edition. The jury, composed of Mexican composer Diana Syrse, Argentine composer Carolina Carrizo, and Brazilian composer Rodrigo Lima, selected four works from three countries: Bolivia, Chile, and Mexico. As part of the prize, all four scores have been edited and published by Sur in both print and digital editions.
The program will be preceded by a short discussion with the award-winning composers, moderated by Sur's editorial director, Aquiles Lázaro.

Diego Sánchez-Villa, piano
Mexican pianist and composer dedicated to the performance and dissemination of 20th- and 21st-century music. His career has been consolidated through premieres and collaborations with composers of different generations, focusing primarily on recent works by Latin American creators. His interpretative approach combines a rigorous attention to structural detail with an exploration of sonic energy—traits that have positioned him as a leading young performer on the new music scene. Active in both solo and collective projects, Sánchez-Villa has participated in numerous festivals and specialized forums, and has offered solo recitals in Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Paris, Vienna, and Madrid.
