Diana Syrse
Diana Syrse
Born in Mexico, Diana Syrse is a composer and singer recognized as one of the most distinctive voices on the international scene. Her music places the voice at the center with extended techniques, electronics, theatricality, and sounds rooted in Latin American traditions. Recognized for creating immersive soundscapes and powerful musical narratives, her work explores different realities, transformation, magical realism, socially and politically relevant situations such as migration and the search for identity, articulating a contemporary aesthetic that moves between the visceral and the delicate, between intimacy and the unbounded. Her output spans opera, orchestral, choral, chamber, electronic, electroacoustic, dance, and interdisciplinary projects. Her music has been performed across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa.
She has received commissions from the Staatsoper Hamburg, the Opéra National de Montpellier, the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In Germany, she has served as composer-in-residence in more than fifteen opera and music theater productions, including at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Berliner Ensemble, and Kammerspiele München. Her music has been presented by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale, as well as at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin.
